Millet poha laddu is a very easy to make, a delicious and nutritious sweet. I’m making this easy laddu with millet flakes (poha/ aval). You can use any millet flakes of your choice.

How to make the best healthy Kodo millet poha laddu

Here I’m explaining the ingredients and method of making a healthy kodo millet poha laddu

Ingredients

  1. Kodo millet flakes or any millet flakes – 1 cup
  2. Scraped coconut – 1/2 cup
  3. Jaggery powder – 1/4 cup
  4. Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  5. Ghee – 1 teaspoon
  6. Salt – a small pinch

Method

  1. Dry roast the millet flakes in low flame, stirring continuously.
  2. Take out the millet flakes from pan when it’s aromatic, light brown color and crispy.
  3. Allow it to cool down to room temperature and then powder it.
  4. Add jaggery, coconut, cardamom powder, ghee and salt to the powdered millet poha and and combine.
  5. Take small portions from the mixture and roll it to millet balls/ laddus.

Pro tips & tricks by Anishya

  1. Grease hands with ghee or oil while rolling the laddus/ balls. So that you will get smooth laddus.
  2. Adding ghee helps the body to absorb nutrients from the millets fast.
  3. I have added jaggery where the sweetness is not too much or less. Increase or decrease the jaggery according to your taste.

Variations you can try

  1. You can add roasted nuts or dry fruits while making the laddu.
  2. You can use any millet flakes of your choice.
  3. You can add a pinch of roasted cumin powder and ginger powder for more flavor.

Storage tips

  1. Consume the laddu same day as it contains fresh coconut. Or you keep in refrigerator for for 1 week.
  2. Store in a tight container.
