- 1. Basmati Rice - 1 Cup
- 2. Split and peeled Green gram - 1/2 Cup (Cherupayar)
- 3. Ghee - 2 Tablespoon
- 4. Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon (Jeerakam)
- 5. Cardamom - 2 Nos (Elaykka)
- 6. Cinnamon - 2 Inch piece (Karuakpatta)
- 7. Clove - 4 Nos (Grambu)
- 8. Pepper corns - 1/2 Teaspoon (Kurumulak)
- 9. Onion - 1 Cup - Sliced
- 10. Ginger garlic paste - 1 Teaspoon
- 11. Green chilly - 2 Nos
- 12. French beans - 1/2 Cup - Cut into pieces
- 13. Carrot - 1/2 Cup - Cut into pieces
- 14. Tomato - 1/2 Cup - Cut into pieces
- 15. Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
- 16. Asafoetida powder - 1/4 Teaspoon (Kayapodi)
- 17. Coriander leaves - 1 Handful (Malliyila)
- 18. Mint leaves - 1 Handful (Pudina ila)
- 19. Salt
- 20. Water - 4 Cups
Instructions
- Wash and soak Basmati rice and split green gram for half an hour.
- Heat ghee in a pan and splutter ingredients 4 – 8.
- Add onion, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and salt. Saute till onion become soft.
- Add carrot and beans for 2 minutes.
- Add tomato, turmeric powder and asafoetida powder and saute for a minute.
- Add 4 Cups of water (approximately, change accordingly) boil it.
- When boiling, add soaked basmati rice, moong dal, coriander leaves and mint leaves. Mix well and close the pan with a lid.
- Cook till rice is perfectly cooked.
